Standard Parts – Eligibility for Installation
Recent CAA findings have identified cases where parts have been installed based solely on a Certificate of Conformity, despite the applicable approved data not identifying the item as a standard part or demonstrating traceability to a recognised national, international, or industry specification. Consequently, the part did not meet the eligibility requirements of M.A.501 and/or 145.A.42. CAMOs should ensure compliance is established during procurement in accordance with CAMO.A.315, while Part-145 organisations must verify part eligibility on receipt and prior to installation in accordance with 145.A.42.
Organisations should review ‘Part-145 Guidance for Developing a Receiving and Inspection System for Aircraft Parts and Materials’ (CAP 3037), and ‘Part-145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition Guidance’ (paragraph 2.2.4) (CAP 2375), for further guidance.
