Part 66 and 147 changes: E propulsion requirements – RMT 0134

In 2024, the CAA consulted on Part 66 and Part 147 changes to introduce E propulsion requirements. This was conducted under the rulemaking task 0134.

The focus of the proposal was to enable the certification of maintenance on manned aircraft that are not conventional or have a powerplant other than a piston engine or turbine, under UK Regulation (EU) No. 1321/2014. This element has now been moved to rulemaking task 0201.

The consultation also proposed corrections to Appendix VIII – Basic examination standard for category L aircraft maintenance licence, which is now published in The Aviation Safety (Amendment) Regulations 2025.

We have published our response to comments for this consultation laid out as ‘We asked, You said, We did’.
