Consultation: CAP1739 Safety Guidance for Balloon Events and Competitions

The CAA is consulting on CAP1739: Safety Guidance for Balloon Events and Competitions.

This document provides non-statutory safety guidance for participating pilots and event organisers. It does not introduce new legal requirements.
CAP1739 builds on guidance that was historically in CAP403 (Flying Displays and Special Events) and introduces a new chapter on competition balloon flying, following an AAIB Safety Recommendation.

The consultation runs from the 12 January to the 13 February 2026.
