Recent incidents have highlighted aviation’s reliance on digital systems.

An August cyber security incident affected customer information linked to several aviation services. Operational systems and aviation safety and security were unaffected. However, compromised personal information can increase the risk of phishing and other fraud.

Technical incidents affecting UK air traffic services in September also demonstrated the importance of resilience and recovery. They were not attributed to an intentional act.

The Civil Aviation Authority continues to work with industry as lessons from these incidents are understood.
