Major airspace changes make flights more efficient

A series of major airspace changes covering eastern and southern England will enable aircraft to fly more efficiently, reduce the number of low-level flights and reduce the environmental impact of aviation.

This is the first significant change made as part of the UK’s Future Airspace Strategy, which is set to modernise airspace by 2020. It is part of a European project to improve airspace infrastructure to deliver a more efficient use of airspace and enable environmental improvements¬†through more direct routes, faster climbs and descents, and reducing impact on the overflown.
